Police identify man found dead in ‘murder mansion’

The man emergency workers found dead in a notorious Balmoral Street rooming house was Harold McKinnon, police say.

The body of McKinnon, 54, was found Tuesday by emergency workers who were responding to a call asking that they check on the wellbeing of someone at the house.

Police have said McKinnon’s death is considered suspicious and they’re investigating. An autopsy is pending.

The rooming house where McKinnon’s body was found was the site of stabbing deaths in 2008 and 2009 and a shooting in 2010 that sent a man to hospital in critical condition.

Police have already responded to three incidents at the home this year, and responded to four in 2012, they said Thursday.
