Police say they found the suspect vehicle soon after, but as officers got out of their cruiser, it sped away and struck one officer. The officer was later treated for minor leg injuries.
They say the fleeing suspect vehicle was able to evade police due to poor road conditions and heavy traffic.
Police were able to locate the car – identified as a black Pontiac G5 with Ontario plates BYYJ 064 – soon after on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 401 just west of Napanee.
They say a search of the area by its K9 unit and its emergency response team came up empty.
