Kelowna man charged with killing family

UPDATE: Jacob Forman appeared in person in Kelowna court Thursday. He didn’t express any emotion or say anything during his brief appearance. Several supporters were in the gallery including his mother. Forman is due back in court January 18.

A Kelowna man has been charged with murder after three people were found dead in his home.

Jacob Daniel Forman, 34, is in custody.

“Kelowna RCMP members were called to a residence in Bolotzky Court last night, December 19, at approximately 5 p.m., and they were there to speak to an individual at a residence,” Kelowna RCMP Const. Lesley Smith said.

Police found three bodies inside.

RCMP said the deaths appeared to be suspicious, and the Kelowna Serious Crime Unit was called to investigate.

Neighbours said Forman lived with his wife Clara and their two daughters at the house, but they largely kept to themselves.

Forman worked at a plumbing company.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the B.C. Coroners Service are assisting in the investigation.

“This investigation is in its infancy stages,” Const. Lesley Smith said. “RCMP continue to secure the property as our serious crimes and specially-trained forensic investigators examine the inside of the residence.”

According to court documents, Forman is charged with three counts of second degree murder.

The documents indicate the victims are Forman’s wife, Clara Soledad Forman and daughters Karina Ann and Yesenia Kate.

They are alleged to have been killed by Forman sometime between December 17 and 19.

Forman is expected back in court today.
