A day after Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School was put on lockdown, a 17-year-old is facing charges of possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance.
Police were called to the scene around 12:35 p.m. Monday following reports of an incident between two people in the school’s yard.
Visual reports suggested one of the two people involved were in possession of a firearm but the investigation later revealed it was a pellet gun.
The lockdown was lifted at 1:55 p.m. and the teenage boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested at roughly 4:30 p.m.
