Fire at Saskatoon home caused by misuse of torch

A fire Monday evening at a home in Saskatoon was caused by the misuse of a torch.

The Saskatoon Fire Department received a call just after 6 p.m. CT of smoke coming from a house at 1321 7th Ave. N.

Crews arrived at the two-storey home to find smoke and flame.

Firefighters started an aggressive interior attack and searched the home to ensure no one was inside.

It took firefighters 45 minutes to put out the fire, which involved the second floor and attic.

No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $40,000.
