An 85-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a taxi in west-end Toronto Monday evening, police say.
Toronto police and paramedics were called to Eglinton Avenue West near Weston Road at 5:30 p.m.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died from her injuries.

The vehicle involved remained at the scene. In a brief email statement to Global News Monday evening, a Beck Taxi spokesperson said they are working to help police.

“We are devastated to hear about tonight’s tragic accident and our condolences go out to the victim’s family,” the statement said.
Collision reconstruction officers were called in to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Roads in the immediate area were closed for several hours as officers gathered evidence.
