More people are members of the Saskatchewan Party than at any time since the party formed in 1997.
Party officials said Monday that 27,125 party members are eligible to vote in the upcoming leadership election.
Of those, 13,973 members previously never held a Saskatchewan Party membership.
There were roughly 9,500 members in the party when Premier Brad Wall announced in August he was stepping down as party leader and retiring from politics.

“The Saskatchewan Party is so excited to have this many members eligible to vote for the next Saskatchewan Party leader and premier of Saskatchewan,” Patrick Bundrock, the executive director of the Saskatchewan Party, said in a press release.
Bundrock is encouraged by the growth in the party.
“This kind of massive growth in our party membership is exactly what Premier Wall meant when he talked about renewing the party following his retirement,” Bundrock said.
“With so many brand-new members – in addition to those that have renewed their membership recently – the Saskatchewan Party is in a strong position not only for the leadership election, but for the 2020 general election as well.”
There are five candidates running to replace Wall: Tina Beaudry-Mellor, Ken Cheveldayoff, Alanna Koch, Scott Moe, and Gord Wyant.
Members will elect a new leader and a new premier on Jan. 27, 2018 at a leadership convention at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
