Osoyoos approves new Welcome signs

The Town of Osoyoos has approved funding to install four new welcome signs in the resort community.

Town council awarded the contract for design and installation to Landmark Signs, a Victoria-based company.

The price tag is $146,276.00

A staff report says it will be paid for through resort municipality funds that are available.

A committee compromised to select the new design says its “friendly, welcoming and sophisticated with emphasis to the key point of difference of Osoyoos – warm desert climate.”

Osoyoos mayor Sue McKortoff says the current welcome signs are old, faded and “look terrible.”

“Council felt that we needed to have nicer signs, so we’re happy with it,” McKortoff said.

McKortoff says “Canada’s warmest welcome” has been the official logo of Osoyoos for atleast a decade.
