Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will play Tuesday night in St. Louis, despite missing practice on Monday.

“Connor’s been sick for a week to 10 days now,” Edmonton Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said. “He’s been giving us everything he has energy-wise. His minutes have come down a little bit because of it, but he’ll be fine.”

McDavid had three points on Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars, but also appeared to lack his usual jump. The Oilers played the St. Louis Blues last Thursday at Rogers Place and were thumped 4-1.

Edmonton was guilty of several turnovers and McLellan said his players were too often trying to make an east-west play instead of attacking in a straight line.

“I think we just have to get pucks in behind them,” said McDavid. “They have a high-potent offence. They’re big, strong guys who defend well as well.”
