A pharmacy in Fredericton, N.B. is pointing to Canada’s ongoing opioid crisis after the store was robbed over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post on Monday, Bowman’s Pharmasave was broken into over the weekend when someone dropped through the store’s ceiling and into the pharmacy.
While being recorded on video, the individual then allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register, all of the narcotic drugs in the store and the drugs “that have a high resale value on the streets.”

Although the store says the police are confident in their ability locate the man, it’s not the theft that has the store concerned.
“It’s a monetary loss for us,” reads the Facebook post
“But as health-care providers, we’re even more frustrated that this crime is a by-product of the opioid crisis in this country, and unfortunately, a growing problem in this city.”
They added that it’s important to discuss and talk about the opioid crisis as well as treatments for addiction.

The post also commended the New Brunswick government’s decision to widely distribute naloxone, which blocks the effects that opioids can have on the body and help prevent overdoses, across the province.
“We are not going to let this change us. We want those who are struggling with pain and addiction to know that we’re here to help,” reads the post.
“Just please don’t drop in (literally) when we’re closed.”
