Initial reports advised the fire department that all occupants had evacuated the house.
Crews attacked the blaze from outside the house while searching to ensure no one was inside.
The animal was found in a dog house adjacent to the home.
Investigators have determined the fire was caused by a light bulb in contact with wood panelling.
An updated estimate pegs damage at $120,000.
