A Merritt RCMP officer has been charged with assault.
The charge against Sgt. Norm Flemming was sworn in B.C. Provincial Court in Merritt on Thursday.
A news release issued by the B.C. Prosecution Service Friday said that the assault charge relates to an incident that occurred at the Merritt detachment on May 15, 2017.

Flemming is scheduled to make his first court appearance Dec.5.
