The RCMP is investigating after a person was killed in a two-vehicle crash south of Morinville, Alta. on Wednesday.

Police said officers were called to a crash on Highway 37 on the overpass of Highway 2 shortly after noon.

They said a car that was headed west on Highway 37 tried to turn south onto the north-travelling exit ramp when it collided with an eastbound pickup truck.

A passenger in the car died of their injuries. The driver of the car and a passenger in the truck were taken to hospital while the driver of the truck was not injured.

The RCMP closed Highway 37 on the overpass in both directions while the scene was being cleaned up and an investigation began.

While an investigation is ongoing, police said alcohol and road conditions were not factors in the crash.
