The 2017-18 Peterborough Petes are loaded with top-level talent. A high-octane offence, solid defence and elite goaltending have the Petes alone on top of the OHL’s Eastern Conference standings.
One player who’s powering the Petes’ offence is Jonathan Ang.
The fourth-year player leads the team in points with 26 in only 19 games.
“The past couple of years have been an improvement,” said Ang, “I just have to battle and help this team.”

Ang’s game is built around his speed.
“That’s something that every hockey player wishes they had. When he uses his speed, he’s a great hockey player,” said Jody Hull, head coach.
Ang not only leads the team in points, but in penalty minutes (43) as well.
“Sometimes, he gets frustrated with how other teams play him. He’s just sticking up for himself. That’s something you have to do, to show you’re not afraid on the ice,” added Hull.

Ang is 5’11” tall and weighs around 165 pounds. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers. He spent some time with the Panthers at training camp in the summer before returning to the Petes.
“If I could stick around with Florida, in the future, that would be great,” added Ang.
Ang will suit up for Team OHL in the Canada-Russia Series on Thursday in Owen Sound, and again on Monday in Sudbury.
He will rejoin the Petes for their game in Hamilton on Nov. 15.
