Nutana Legion appreciation tea kicks off Veteran’s Week
Hundreds of events and ceremonies are taking place across Canada for Veteran’s Week.
The week is a chance for Canadians to honour and remember those who have served the country.
A crowd gathered at the Nutana Legion in Saskatoon for an appreciation tea.
Army, air force and navy veterans were there, along with cadets who toured Vimy Ridge earlier this year.
Diane Robson, who is the Saskatoon poppy campaign chair, said one goal of the tea was for the young and old to meet each other.
She also said it was one way to recognize veterans.
An indoor Remembrance Day ceremony will be held Saturday at SaskTel Centre. Doors open at 9 a.m. CT with the ceremony starting at 10:25 a.m.
An outdoor service will take place on Nov. 11 at the cairn in Montgomery Park starting at 10:45 a.m.
The Saskatoon Chamber Singers will be performing two concerts on Remembrance Day at Knox United Church.
Retrospection and Reflection Music is at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
