UPDATE: Carbon monoxide poisoning ruled out as cause of woman’s death in Saskatoon
A 41-year-old woman was found dead inside a Saskatoon apartment building that was evacuated due to elevated carbon monoxide (CO) levels.
Emergency services were called to 342 Ave. R South at around 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday.

Saskatoon police said the woman was found inside of her home. Her name has not been released.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Thursday. The coroner’s office is also working on the sudden death investigation.

Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department and SaskEnergy investigators entered the apartment building to examine CO levels.
Initial air test samples indicated a presence of 150 parts per million (ppm) and the decision was made to evacuate the building.
The fire department said the policy is to evacuate buildings when the presence of CO exceeds 50 ppm.
Ventilation was started and the natural gas supply to the building was turned off. Firefighters searched the building to inform and evacuate all people.
Five evacuees were provided shelter in a Saskatoon Transit bus while others left in their vehicles.
The cause of the elevated CO levels is under investigation.
