Arrests made in downtown Peterborough stabbing

Two men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in downtown Peterborough earlier this month.

On Oct. 13 around 2:20 a.m., police and paramedics responded to the area of George and Hunter streets for an injured man. Police determined he got into an altercation with two unknown men and sustained a stab wound and lacerations. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the two suspects turned himself in to police on Oct. 30.

Justis Alexander Dignard, 22, of Morrow Road, Trent Hills, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. He appeared in court Monday and was released on recognizance. He is scheduled to appear again in court on Nov. 9.

A warrant on Monday was also issued for the arrest of the second suspect. Police say he turned himself in on Tuesday morning.

Nicholas Peever, 21, of County Road 24, Warkworth, is charged aggravated assault. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
