Halifax Regional Police are trying to piece together the events that led to a 28-year-old man being found lying on the ground in Dartmouth, drunk and with a long gun in his bag.
Police responded to a call of an unconscious man on Primrose Street at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

They found the unconscious man who was “intoxicated by alcohol” near a tree wearing a rolled-up balaclava. He had a backpack containing an unloaded rifle and ammunition.
Initially, police said they believed the man had fallen out of the tree but said a few hours later they were unable to confirm if that’s what happened.

Brendan Carter was arrested without incident and is scheduled to make an appearance in court Tuesday morning for numerous firearms-related charges.
