Bancroft OPP say a Hastings Highlands man died while cutting trees last week.
OPP officers and paramedics were called to a wooded area in Bancroft, Ont. on Oct.23 in the early morning where they found a man without vital signs. On Monday, police released a statement saying the investigation revealed the man was hit in the head while he was cutting trees on the property.
The man was identified as Arthur Copfer, 48, a resident of Hastings Highlands Township and co-owner of Copfer’s Cabin Resort.
His obituary states he was born and grew up in Niagara Falls and Fonthill and leaves behind his best friend and partner Lisa, two daughters and a granddaughter expected in July, along with a brother and sister and his parents.
An autopsy was to be performed in Kingston.
