The race for the provincial NDP nomination in London North Centre is heating up.
Local teacher Terence Kernaghan announced Tuesday he’s throwing his hat in the ring to represent the New Democrats in the riding.
Kernaghan has worked with the NDP in London West and sits on the executive of the Thames Valley Teacher Local for the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
He’s lived in London since he was a young child. His father, the late Jim Kernaghan, was a sports columnist with the London Free Press for many years.
Kernaghan will face off against Ward 13 City Councillor Tanya Park in the race for the NDP nomination.
Park announced late last month that she plans to seek the nomination, not long before current Liberal MPP for the riding Deb Matthews announced she would not seek reelection
Former MP Susan Truppe is set to run for the Progressive Conservatives. Kate Graham announced last week she’s running for the Liberal nomination.
The provincial election is set for June 2018.
