The 4th edition of London Comic Con was a record-breaker, according to organizers.

Thirteen thousand people attended the three-day event at the Western Fair District, a big jump from the 10,000 who came last year.

Attendance at the event has nearly doubled since 2015 when 7,500 people came out.

The big draw on Friday and Saturday was William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek TV series.

“Captain Kirk himself had the fans roaring with laughter as he shared personal stories from his fantastic life and career,” organizer Andrew Kitt said in a release.

Kitt says fans came from across the province and beyond to see Shatner, wrestler Mick Foley and actress Amy Jo Johnson, among others. Some fans even came from as far away as the United Kingdom.

“We would like to thank the community of fans who came out to join in the celebration and a big thank you to our fantastic staff, volunteers, and community sponsors who made this experience extra special for the thousands in attendance. I can’t wait to do it all again,” said Jacob Windatt of London Comic Con.

The event also raised $3,000 for local charities with the majority of the fundraising efforts going towards the Children’s Health Foundation.

Kitt says plans are already in the works for the 2018 edition of London comic con.
