The suspect fled the area before police arrived. Police Dog General was deployed and tracked the suspect through a schoolyard, several backyards and a park, police said in a media release on Monday.
Officers found a backpack that had a number of stolen items in it and General managed to track the suspect to Bellevue Drive where he was arrested.
Erich Klug has been charged with possession of stolen property, trespassing, and three counts of breaching his probation order.
Police said there were 13 vehicle break-ins over the weekend. Cash, personal papers, tools and jewelry were some of the items taken.
Residents are being reminded to lock their cars, remove any valuables and park in a well-lit area.
