An RCMP corporal in New Brunswick says he’s been chided by superiors for speaking out about the force’s response to the Moncton shootings.
Cpl. Patrick Bouchard says the rebuke came in response to comments he made after the RCMP was convicted of failing to provide its members with adequate weapons and training in the 2014 Moncton attack.

He publicly called out RCMP senior managers for skipping the delivery of the verdict in the Labour Code trial last month.
Bouchard, who was friends with three Mounties who were killed in the shooting rampage, says the court decision exposed the divide between the RCMP’s top brass and front-line officers.

The 15-year veteran of the force, who is stationed at the Miramichi detachment, says he received a document from a superior last week calling his comments “unacceptable.”
He says he hasn’t been disciplined, but feels further consequences could be in the works.
