Truck ignites during rush hour on Highway 40

A tanker caught fire at around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 40 West near Ray Lawson Boulevard in Anjou.

According to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, the fire was contained to the cabin of the truck and no one was injured.

Bilodeau said the driver managed to pull his truck to the right shoulder.

After the incident, all three lanes in the westbound direction were closed, but the left lane has since reopened.

Bilodeau said the remaining lanes are expected to reopen in the coming hours.
