Kingston Company donates over 20 thousand boxes to Kingston food bank – Oct 2, 2017

A Kingston company has made a big donation to the Partners in Mission Food Bank.  And while it’s not food, it will help ease the financial burden on the organization.

Spearhead Brewing Company is donating 21,000 cardboard boxes to the Hickson Avenue facility. Josh Hayter is the President and CEO and says the timing was perfect.

“We’ve switched over from bottles to cans, I wasn’t going to use them all and when I found out that the food bank really wanted them and could use them, we said you know what, let’s just send them all over there.”

Food Bank Executive Director Sandy Singers says the donation will help.

“It was kind of funny, that we were actually pricing boxes to do another purchase. We use a couple of palettes a year and then we got this call. Originally it was nine palettes then 20 and then 40,” said Singers.

The boxes were delivered to the food bank last Friday and Singers says they’ll share them with other food banks across the province.
