New Brunswick RCMP have stepped up patrols after receiving several complaints about ATV drivers in North Tetagouche.
The Mounties say they’ve received reports over the past few weeks of ATV drivers speeding and driving recklessly in the area.

Sergeant Benoit Jolette says the Mounties frequently get reports of off-road vehicles driving on the road or too close to the road.
“We are asking all ATVers to slow down and ensure they’re following the law. This is for your own safety, and the safety of others on the road,” said Jolette in a press release.

The RCMP say that riders should follow the following steps to make every ride safe and enjoyable:
- Ride sober and remind others to do so as well. Drinking and operating an ATV is a criminal offence and can lead to serious injuries or even death for riders, passengers and others.
- Obey the rules of the road and trail. Stay on marked and approved trails, and away from streams.
- Bring your vehicle to a complete stop before crossing a highway, and always drive directly across. You must stay at least 7.5 metres away from highways except when crossing.
