Bulldogs ship Cole Candella to Sudbury for draft picks

The Hamilton Bulldogs have traded defenceman Cole Candella to the Sudbury Wolves.

In return, the Bulldogs receive a second- and third-round pick in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection, a third-round pick in 2019, and a conditional third-round pick in 2022.

Candella, 19, from Mississauga, Ont., scored three goals and added 17 assists in 2016/17 for Hamilton.

In three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, Candella has recorded 46 points in 162 regular season games and has been held pointless in eight playoff contests.

He was drafted in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft, 140th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in 2016.

The puck drops on the Bulldogs’ 2017-18 OHL regular season on Saturday, Sept. 23 when they host the Niagara IceDogs at FirstOntario Centre.
