Sheeran made the donation anonymously and asked staff to ensure it remained low-key for a while, according to foundation officials.

The gift is one of several children’s charity donations Sheeran made during his North American tour, said SaskTel Centre executive director Scott Ford.

The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is 66 per cent complete and scheduled to open in late 2019.
