Charges have been laid in a July multi-vehicle crash in Haliburton, Ont., which claimed the life of a Toronto paramedic and his partner.
Haliburton Highlands OPP determined that on July 15 around 5 p.m., an eastbound Chrysler PT Cruiser crossed the centre line of Highway 117 when it collided with four of seven motorcycles travelling westbound. The collision happened between Trappers Trail and Essonville Line in Highlands East Township.
Two of the riders from Uxbridge, Ont., died while two others suffered serious life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Cruiser suffered minor injuries, OPP said.

The victims were identified as George Eliadis, 52, and Shari Williams, 42. Eliadis was a deputy commander with Toronto Paramedic Services.

On Monday, OPP announced the driver faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
Jamie Mountney, 38, of Hastings Highlands, has been charged with careless driving, driving with no licence and driving a vehicle without a valid permit.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Lindsay on Nov. 2.
