A 52-year-old man was arrested and homicide charges are pending in connection to a violent assault Saturday.
An officer on patrol intervened in the assault in progress along the 400 block of 6 Avenue South at around 3:30 p.m.
EMS was called and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

A 48-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died a short time after.
Police said the victim and accused are known to each other and that is was not a random incident.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Anyone with information about the assault or may have been in the area at the time of the incident, is asked to contact police.
