Shaw TV and internet customers are being warned about receiving phony billing notices.

A Global viewer received an email telling her to log on to a Shaw account and update her billing information or her services could be terminated.

Shaw says it’s a fake email and someone is trying to fool you into giving out personal and private financial information.

The emails are very realistic using a Shaw company logo and hyperlinks.

Another fraudulent communication making the rounds is a phone call with a recorded message from Westjet.

The message says, “As a WestJet preferred customer you have been selected for a promotional vacation package”.

If you press one the operator tries to get your credit card number and other personal information.

Westjet says they don’t use the phone for telemarketing or to promote contests.

The phone number looks like it is from the 780 area code but when you phone it backs, it’s not in service.

Similar calls have been made using other company names like Air Canada and Canadian Tire.
