Police said in a press release that the death occurred on Thursday, and Sparks’ body was found on Cherry Brook Road shortly after 8 p.m.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
“Obviously the family is very distraught, showing a lot of emotion. Very tragic. This is a very quiet community as you can tell and stuff like this doesn’t happen here so it’s very shocking to everybody,” Marcell Slawter said on Friday.
Police request anyone with information about where Sparks was between Sept. 11-14 to contact them, Halifax Regional Police, or Crime Stoppers.
