After eight years of marriage, Fergie and Josh Duhamel have announced they are going their separate ways, as first reported by People.
On Thursday the couple released a statement to ET Canada confirming their split.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” the joint statement reads. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”

The couple, who celebrated their eighth anniversary in January, share a 4-year-old son, Axl Jack.
Sangita Patel spoke with Duhamel about Fergie’s M.I.L.F. Money music video, while he was on the Transformers set last December. “My wife is not subtle,” he said, adding that fans missed out on seeing him star as the milkman in the video.

“She wanted me to be the milkman,” he revealed. “The whole idea for the whole video came because when she was pregnant, we did this whole ‘the milkman is here,’ and that’s how the whole idea came about. And then she wanted me to play the milkman and I was like, ‘No, I will not do it.’ That’s her world.”

And back in August, Fergie sat down with Roz Weston to talk about her upcoming album Double Dutchess. “It’s kind of like that girl that has the mask on with all the dazzle and all of that, but then tearing the mask off and seeing what the girl is behind the mask,” she said. “I’m definitely extroverted and I like to have a laugh at everything. But also when you get to my soul and my heart, I’m this really ultra-sensitive person underneath and very vulnerable.”
This week, Fergie released a music video, featuring Nicki Minaj, for her single You Already Know.
