The Ontario Provincial Police have seized several thousand marijuana plants and arrested three Toronto-area people following a raid on a property in the City of Kawartha Lakes on Wednesday.

Officers executed a search warrant at a Beers Road property in the community of Bethany, about 35 kilometres southwest of Peterborough, where they seized 3,400 marijuana plants, more than 100 grams of marijuana bud, two motor vehicles and other property required to maintain a grow operation.

Items seized are valued at approximately $1.7 million, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP said.

Facing drug-related possession, production and trafficking charges are:

  • Un Ieong Lam, 62, of Thornhill, Ont.
  • Jian Xiong LI, 46, of Scarborough
  • Lianrong Shen, 27, of Stouffville.

Xiong and Shen also face a charge of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The trio are all scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay for a bail hearing on Thursday
