Bombers’ Maurice Leggett honoured for Banjo Bowl performance
Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Maurice Leggett has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week after scoring two touchdowns in Saturday’s Banjo Bowl win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Leggett returned a punt 97 yards to the endzone in the second quarter to put the Bombers in front. He later intercepted a Kevin Glenn pass, running it back 54 yards for a touchdown. The American also recorded three defensive tackles in the game.
This is the third time this season Leggett has been honoured by the CFL. He earned a weekly award for his play in Winnipeg’s victory over the Ottawa Redlbacks in Week 7. Leggett was also named one of the league’s best players for the month of August.
Edmonton Eskimos wide receiver Brandon Zylstra and Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli round out the Shaw CFL Top Performers for Week 12.
