Police in Halifax have arrested a man for possession of child pornography after receiving information from Interpol.
According to Halifax Regional Police, officers with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit of the integrated Criminal Investigation Division were tipped off about online child pornography on electronic devices and a social media site.

On Sept. 8, investigators conducted a search of a Bedford, N.S., residence and seized electronic devices for forensic analysis.

A man at the residence was arrested without incident.
Alan Payne, 65, of Manchester, England appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday and faces one count of possession of child pornography.
Cindy Bayers, a spokesperson for Halifax Regional Police, says investigators do not believe the images showed local children.
“Investigations involving an international component always tend to be large in scale and this investigation is ongoing,” Bayers said.
