A Maple Ridge man who needs crutches to walk says he feels he was bullied by a Coast Mountain bus driver, and hopes others don’t have to go through what he did.
William Shephard says he was boarding a bus on Tuesday, Sep. 5 with his wife and children, who were carrying several bags of groceries.
He says the driver was rude and rushed them on, and then at their stop initally refused to let them off at the rear doors.
“Just to think about all the other people that have been treated like this,” he says. “I don’t like people like being bullied.”
TransLink representative Chris Bryan says an investigation has been launched.
“Any time one of our customers has a negative or bad experience we want to know about it, and we’re glad he came forward,” he says.
“In general our bus operators provide excellent customer service every day. The vast majority do a great job, and in this case if that wasn’t the case, we want to know about it.”
“I know the operator has been identified, who was on this particular route, so we’ll be following up with them,” says Bryan.
“If there’s any corrective action that’s required, we will take appropriate action.”
Bryan says customers are encouraged to report any special needs they may have to bus drivers as soon as they get onboard.
