A small airplane was attempting to take off from Stanhope Airport on Saturday just before 2:30 p.m., when it crashed into a wooded area east of the airport, in the Township of Dysart et al.
The single-engine plane lost power on takeoff and crashed after leaving the end of the runway.

Three fire trucks and 14 firefighters responded to the scene. Paramedics and OPP were also on scene.
The pilot and passenger were transported to Haliburton Hospital as a precaution.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
