Edmonton election 2017: Candidates running for mayor and council

Edmontonians will head to the polls on Monday, Oct. 16 in the 2017 municipal election.

With the campaign season now underway, there are dozens of people vying for a seat on Edmonton City Council.

Council will see at least three new faces this fall, as Ward 9 Councillor Bryan Anderson, Ward 5 Councillor Michael Oshry and Ward 4 Councillor Ed Gibbons are not seeking re-election.

In total, 13 people are running for mayor and there are 70 candidates for city council. Twenty people are running to become Edmonton Catholic School Board trustees, while 28 people are running to become Edmonton Public School Board trustees (including one acclamation).
