Bev Esslinger was re-elected as councillor of Ward 2 in Edmonton on Monday night, based on unofficial voting results.
Global News declared her the winner with 13 of 20 polls reporting.
Bev Esslinger, the only woman on Edmonton City Council, has represented Ward 2 for the past four years. Esslinger took over from Kim Krushell in 2013, who was first elected to council in 2004.

Bev Esslinger
Bev Esslinger was elected councillor of Ward 2 in northwest Edmonton in 2013 and has been the only woman on council for the past four years. Prior to her time on council, Esslinger served as an Edmonton Public School Board Trustee.

Ali Haymour
Ali Haymour is a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and currently works as an Alberta Sheriff. Some of his goals as councillor would be to expand the LRT to northwest Edmonton, stop wasteful spending and reduce crime.

Shelley Tupper
Shelley Tupper worked as an accountant with the federal government for 35 years before retiring in 2015. Over the years, she’s sat on several community leagues. This is the second time Tupper is running for councillor in Ward 2. Transit, communication between residents, along with city hall and efficient delivery of essential services are among her priorities.

In total, 13 people are running for mayor and there are 70 candidates for city council. Twenty people are running to become Edmonton Catholic School Board trustees, while 28 people are running to become Edmonton Public School Board trustees (including one acclamation).
Election day is Monday, Oct. 16.
