A 16-month-old Flamborough girl is in serious condition at McMaster Children’s Hospital after what authorities are calling a near drowning.

Hamilton police say she wandered away from an adult at a home on Safari Road  near Westover Road about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and was found in a small decorative pond a short time later.

A family member immediately started CPR and 911 was called.

Hamilton Fire and EMS arrived on the scene and then an air ambulance took her to Mac Kids Hospital.
