Harry Potter fans, J.K. Rowling celebrate ’19 years later’

Harry Potter fans are celebrating Sept. 1, 2017 because it’s the date Harry Potter’s son, Albus Servus Potter, set off to the wizarding school on the Hogwarts Express for the first time.

In the book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the storyline is set 19 years later from the events in the books and shows Potter and Ginny Weasley at the King’s Cross station with their three children, James Sirius, Albus Severus and Lily Luna.

Ron and Hermoine were also there sending their children off to Hogwarts, as well as Draco Malfoy and son Scorpius.

The scene kicks off the Harry Potter play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling marked the special occasion on Twitter.

The Cursed Child production also posted a video to Twitter, explaining the significance of performing the show on Sept. 1, 2017.

Oliver Phelps, who played George Weasley in the Potter films and Warwick Davis celebrated the day on Twitter.

The hashtags #BackToHogwarts and #19YearsLater started trending on Twitter as Potter fans went to visit the King’s Cross station in London, where platform 9 3/4 is set up as a real-life tourist attraction.
