Formed back in 1998 with only four co-ed teams, the Kingston Ultimate Frisbee League now has 24 teams comprising over 450 players.

Commissioner Joel Yearsley says it’s one the few sports that allows men and women to play on the same team at a competitive level.

“We have people who are beginners all the way to very experienced players and everything in between,” said the man in charge.

Yearsley says its the “spirit of the game” that makes it work. There are no referees, players make their own calls and if there’s a dispute, they work it out amongst themselves. Treating people with respect is what it’s all about, he says.

Now that the summer league has concluded, registration is underway for fall competition.
