Saskatoon police Taser combative man

A man who Saskatoon police had to Taser has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

It started early Thursday morning when members of the air support unit spotted a fire and people in the bushes near Dalmeny Road and 33rd Street West.

Patrol officers who responded to the area found a sleeping man.

The officers said when they woke the man, he became combative, picked up a large stick and made threatening remarks.

Officers said they used a Taser on him when he refused to listen to their instructions.

The 40-year-old man was checked by paramedics and then taken into custody and charged.
