Offensive lineman Caleb Eidsvik is appreciating the opportunity he has been given as he heads into his final season with the Saskatchewan Huskies.
“How many guys are sitting in the stands wishing they were on the sideline?” Eidsvik asked.
“You enjoy it. You’re feeling a little bit of pain, maybe you bruise a toe, you get over it.”

Putting the team first ahead of any personal goals is how Eidsvik is approaching the season.
“The big thing is trying to get my knowledge into the younger guys,” Eidsvik said.
Huskie head coach Scott Flory said the knowledge of the senior players, including Eidsvik, is one of the keys in developing the younger players on the team.
“We expect them to be the guiding force, to be the light, to show these other guys the way and teach them what it’s like and what’s necessary to be a Huskie football player,” Flory explained.

While Eidsvik is putting the team before personal milestones, there is one goal he would like to achieve this year – winning a Canada West playoff game – but not because it is his last season.
“I want to win it for the history of the sport, for the coaches, all the time that they’ve put in, and more importantly just for the city of Saskatoon,” Eidsvik said.
“How long have they been waiting for us to get that?”
The Huskies take to the field Friday evening in Hamilton when they take on the McMaster Marauders in non-conference action.
This will be the first time the teams have played each other.
