Macdonald Bridge to be closed this weekend, nights next week as Big Lift nears completion

Halifax’s Macdonald Bridge will be closed this weekend, so be prepared for delays if you’re heading to or from Dartmouth.

The decision to close the bridge comes from the need to install the fourth, and final, expansion joint of the Big Lift project.

The Macdonald Bridge will close Fri Aug 25 @7pm and reopen Mon Aug 28 @5:30am to install 4th of 4 expansion joints. The SW/BL will be open.

The bridge will close at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weeknights will also be tough as the bridge is scheduled to be closed as well.

The bridge re-decking project got underway back in October 2015 and is set to be completed this fall.
