They say the Burlington Fire department extinguished the fire, but not before the structure suffered significant damage.
Police say the fire is suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is investigating.
No injuries were reported and police say they do not know the cause of the fire.
The church was originally built in 1891 as a Methodist church, became a United church, and was sold to the current Baptist congregation in 1975.
