Seven years in the making, the Moose and Monarchs exhibit is finally on display at the Art Gallery of Peterborough.
The exhibit highlights the work of iconic Canadian Artist, Charles Pachter.
“The installation is magnificent. I’m really touched by how beautifully the show has been mounted and to see my work over the last 50 years come together in a beautiful space like this in the quintessential small Canadian city like Peterborough. I’m thrilled,” said Pachter.

On July 20, the Art Gallery held an event to launch the exhibit. It was called the “Butter Tart Soiree” dedicated to Pachter’s love of everything Canadian, especially butter tarts. People sampled butter tarts, listened to music, and viewed Pachter’s artwork.
Pachter grew up in a Jewish family in Toronto in the 1950s.
Today, his artwork is being presented throughout Canada; he is known for his iconic Canadian imagery including his work of the Queen, moose, and the Maple Leaf.
“Most of my early work was involved in me trying to figure myself out and all of it was expressionist, torturous, anxiety-ridden young man in my 20s,” said Patcher.
About 50 pieces of Pachter’s artwork are displayed in the “Moose and Monarchs” Exhibit.
