Driver killed in Highway 3 collision near Oak Bluff

Police said a car collided with a semi-trailer at 6:40 a.m. Global News

For the second time in 24 hours a section of Highway 3 between Sanford and Oak Bluff was closed while police investigated a two-vehicle collision.

RCMP said a northbound car collided with a southbound semi-trailer at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the 28-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.

Highway 3, between Oak Bluff and Sanford was closed throughout the morning.

A forensic collision re-constructionist is assisting on scene.

On Tuesday a collision closed a section of Highway 3 near Sperling for several hours.

One driver, a 68-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. He has since been upgraded to stable condition with serious injuries. The other driver, a 49-year-old man, received minor injuries.

A detour was in effect rerouting vehicles throughout the afternoon. The road has since reopened to traffic.
