A four-year-old boy has died after being found in his family swimming pool in Hamilton’s east end.

Det.- Sgt. Steve Bereziuk says the boy was found in the pool in the backyard of a home on Edgemont Street North around 7:00p.m. on Saturday.

His parents pulled him out and attempted to perform CPR.

The boy was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

WATCH: There’s no better way to cool down on a hot summer day than to spend some time in a pool. But after two pool-related incidents took place over the weekend, safety experts are warning families to exercise caution. Erica Vella reports.

Bereziuk says the house was under renovation and the pool wasn’t ready for the season yet.

The investigation is being treated as a sudden death and foul play isn’t suspected.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday.
